It bothers you. It makes your heart beat a little faster. It keeps you up at night. It makes you pound the table. You know things are broken. But you want things to be different. You sense the injustice and you won't accept it.
Your heart is starting to beat like the heartbeat of Jesus.
You've tasted your own world of brokenness. At home. At school. At work. Things are not as they are supposed to be. Something is wrong.
Your heart is starting to beat like the heartbeat of Jesus.
Jesus entered this broken world with a way to change it from the inside out. He told his followers to love their enemies cause anyone can love people they love. Anyone can love who they like.
But Jesus would love when others loved. He would love when others hate. He simply loved. He didn't play the game fairly.
Sometimes our hearts are so desperate to see justice happen around the world that we get lost in where to start. I think justice should start in our hearts, homes, and hallways.
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" said Martin Luther King Jr. I think if he were around today, this young generation would be best buddies with him. Martin Luther King Jr's blood seems to run through the veins of today's teenagers. They are a generation that wants change. They won't settle for brokenness. They are a generation of healers. They want to heal brokenness.
Do they know their hearts are beating with the heartbeat of Jesus?
Justice needs to start here. If it can happen here, it can happen there. If we choose to love here, we can choose to love there. It begins in our hearts. It begins in our homes. It begins in our hallways.
Don't get lost in where to start. You live in a broken world. Apply yourself to that world. And let love prevail in your broken world. Let healing come to the unjust conditions surrounding your life.
Let go of hate in your heart.
Choose to love in your home.
Make reconciliation with those in your hallways.
Simply love as Jesus loves.
