About 8 of us started reading through the gospel of Mark this week. We have a thread on facebook and we're just randomly commenting on what stirs our heart. It's cool doing this with people from all over the country. Here are some of our shared observations. Join us in reading Mark if you like!

"I just started today and went through ch. 1. I haven't read Mark in a long time. His lack of detail usually throws me off a bit... but this time slapped me in the mouth with a little bit of awe this time...I love how Mark just kicks you in the teeth right off the bat of how mighty and powerful Christ is with his strength to heal and cast out demons."

"I tend to take what few details Mark gives us as focused snapshots into the character of Jesus. For example, in 1v22 ( http://read.ly/Mark1.22.ESV ) this authority that Jesus teaches with is what distinguishes him from the others in the temple."
Mason--
"I agree with everyone else here that Mark's blatant lack of details really hits hard into the message and goals of Jesus. Normally we get so wrapped up in the small details of the gospel that we miss out on the big picture of Jesus and his life. Mark shows this to us."
