Meet David Ashby. A freshman in high school who is walking from Orlando to DC this summer in order to raise awareness of the needs of homeless children around the United States.
He's stopping every night at shelters around the country. He's raising awareness by walking. He is only 15 years old. His heart breaks for the poverty in his own country.
You can follow his blog at http://helpingstepbystep.blogspot.com/

You know this kid is really not walking it. He says he is but many people have caught him lying about walking and other things.
It is really sad!

i don't think we should care too much about that fact. the question is whether he is doing what he set out to do....raise awareness of homelessness in the US. it's funny how people want to cover more about the story of him simply walking then they do the shelters that he is supposed to be visiting. The spotlight should not be on him but on the homeless people he encounters. The publicity is currently spinning in the wrong direction for his trip to be effective. He probably needs to take much of the responsibility for that. He is young and perhaps is getting caught up in the media frenzy of it all. But more education and true awareness of homelessness needs to be coming from this deal. this is quickly becoming another example of the popularity and sensationalism of social justice issues in America, with little true desire to work for concrete change.
